Degree Options


Master of Arts in Community Psychology (MA Psych)

For individuals who want to learn how to develop, implement, and evaluate programs that promote the health of a community and address issues of social inequality.  Students acquire skills in social research methods and complete a thesis and internship in a setting that complements their professional interests and passions.  One student described community psychology in the following way.  “Instead of constantly rescuing people from drowning, community psychologists go upriver to determine why people are falling in the water and then prevent it from happening.”

               Classes begin in August and January (on campus in Portland, OR)

 

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

For individuals who want to pursue an initial teaching license and earn their master degree.  Includes students teaching and fulfills requirements for Oregon teacher licensure.  Oregon licenses generally transfer easily to other states.

                11-month, full-time programs (on campus in Portland, OR)

                                June & January starts

                22-month, evening program (on campus in Portland, OR)

Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (MA TESOL)

Designed to give students the tools to teach in English Language Programs both locally and internationally.  Coursework focuses not only on grammar and linguistics, but on how to communicate effectively across different cultures and language abilities to teach listening, speaking, reading and writing.  Students can complete internships locally or at an international location.

                Classes begin every semester (on campus in Portland, OR)

 

Master of Education (M.Ed.)

Licensed teachers can pursue advanced degrees in curriculum and instruction (over 20 concentrations), Special Education, and Career & Technical Education.  Concordia also offers an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership that can be completed by those with or without a current teaching license.

                Classes begin every semester (on campus in Portland, OR, online, or a hybrid of the two)

 

Doctorate of Education (Ed.D)

Designed for individuals with a master’s degree who are interested in impacting and contributing to their field through the lens of education.  Specializations include Teacher Leadership, Higher Education, and Transformational Leadership.  The program takes just under four years to complete.

Classes begin every semester (both on campus in Portland, OR and online)

 

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Two-year program offered in Portland.  Concentrations include Leadership and Management, Finance, Healthcare Administration, General Business, and Project Management.  Classes are one evening a week.  Guest speakers include leaders from large corporations like Nike, Adidas, and Intel as well as small business owners and founders of non-profits.  ACBSP Accredited.

School of Law (JD) Located in Boise, ID

More than just a pathway to a legal career, a law degree provides students with a sought-after skill-set that transfers beyond the courthouse to government jobs, educational careers, community positions, and the business sector.  Concordia offers a 3+3 program for students who complete select undergraduate degrees at the main campus in Portland.
