Curriculum
Mays’ MS-HRM program helps develop four core skill areas: conceptual, technical, interpersonal, and communication. Our program provides both specialized HRM coursework and exposure to the core components of management and an organization’s functional areas of accounting, finance, marketing, and operations.
Aside from integrating these skill areas into your coursework, your marketability will be enhanced by taking specific courses in the core business functions. These courses comprise the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), which are required to take if you did not complete similar courses in your undergraduate program.
The program is a 37-credit hour, non-thesis graduate program. As a fully accredited program, we require at least 18 months of full-time study. The curriculum covers a broad range of human resource management topics to ensure students develop a deep understanding of the field. Mays’ Center for Human Resource Management teams with our corporate partners to design a relevant curriculum, preparing students for the current job market.
After your first year of coursework, you will have an opportunity to apply what you have learned during a professional internship. Please see below the required MS-MGMT courses and the appropriate semesters of completion.

Scholarships
All students accepted to the MS-MGMT, with an emphasis in Human Resources, Program are automatically considered for a departmental scholarship and graduate assistantship based on the strength of their application materials. A limited number of graduate assistantships within the Department of Management are competitively awarded to MS-MGMT students. These 10- or 20-hour per week assignments often involve assisting a management faculty member with his or her teaching or research. Students interested in these opportunities should check the appropriate box in the personal information section of the graduate application.
