A message from our Principal, Mike Peake:

At Mauldin High we believe relationships, relevance, and rigor get results for student success! We do this by supporting and encouraging our teachers as much as possible.   We have a wonderful faculty here at Mauldin and welcome any new additions ready to come in and hit the ground running!

A message from our IC, Lori Robbins, on what makes MHS the PERFECT place to work:

Thanks to Mauldin High, I've grown as an educator! The school has given me opportunities and support to advance my own education and career goals. The thing that truly makes MHS so special are the people. Our students are awesome, and my co-workers have become some of my best friends! Joining the Maverick family is one of the best decisions I've ever made!

Mission:

The administration, faculty, and staff of Mauldin High School, in conjunction with the students, their families, and the community, shall provide every student the opportunity, challenge, and support to realize his or her educational potential and the ability to assume a productive role in a democratic society.

We Believe:

  • Students learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of instructional approaches to support their learning.
  • Students learn best when they have appropriate opportunities for success.
  • Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs.
  • Exceptional students (e.g., special education, limited English proficiency, talented and gifted, etc.) require special services and resources.
  • Cultural diversity can increase students’ understanding of different peoples and cultures.
  • Teachers, administrators, parents, and the community share the responsibility for advancing the schools mission.
  • Schools need to function as a learning organization and promote opportunities for all those who have a stake in the success of the school to work together as a community of learners.
  • The commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if our school is going to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.

The student will:

  • Demonstrate the ability to gather and use information to solve problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and with others.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic academic skills and be able to apply them in everyday life.
  • Demonstrate the ability to set goals and to develop plans for achieving them.
  • Develop an awareness of the diversity of other cultures and demonstrate respect toward all students, teachers, and members of the community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to reason logically and think creatively and critically.

About Mauldin High School

Mauldin High School consistently earns an overall rating of “Excellent” on the SC School Report Card. Beyond this recognition, it is a place where teaching and learning are front and center in everything we do and where establishing positive relationships between all stakeholders marks the way. In addition to being a center for instruction, we also provide enrichment and support as we prepare college and career ready graduates Mauldin High School was first built in 1973 and renovated in 2002, our campus is home to a wide variety of successful instructional, athletic, extracurricular, and lifelong learning programs. Despite the size of our student body, approximately 2350 students in number, our school provides a welcoming and nurturing environment to all our students. The current student population consists of 61% Caucasians, 24% African-Americans, 10% Hispanics, and 8% other ethnicities. Fifty (50) percent of our student population is female and fifty (50) percent are male. Approximately 32% of students receive free or reduced lunch. At MHS, parental and community involvement are high priorities. The school has three active booster clubs, PTSA, and an School Improvement Council. We also benefit from creative partnerships with local businesses, corporations, and individuals who support many of our educational and extracurricular endeavors with funding and volunteers. Mauldin High School is located in one of the fastest growing areas of the state. Situated at the edge of a major research complex that brings high-tech jobs to our community , our school is charged with providing students with the essential academic and social skills that will afford them a place in the global economy of the 21st century, consistent with the district’s Graduation Plus initiatives. This past year we once again had great success with our Teacher Cadet program, supported as the flagship program for the district in that we were able to extend our Memorandum of Agreement with Anderson University to provide the dual credit course (EDU 111) to participants. This school year, we were also very happy to further cement our relationship with Greenville Technical College by expanding our Early College program. The expansion involves offering college courses taught by Mauldin HS Faculty as adjunct professors. Over 150 students are earning English 101 and English 102, Math 110 and 111 and History 201 and 202, Business 110 and 120, and Health Science for college credit on our MHS Campus.

Leaders in On-Track

In conjunction with the MHS OnTRACK initiative and School Counselors Office, the School Improvement Council was instrumental in partnering with Mentor Upstate to bring a mentor program to Mauldin High School. The start of this program was marketed through SIC, PTA, and MHS Guidance to bring 61 potential mentors for training and program launch to MHS on November 13, 2018 with more than 40 mentors being paired with OnTrack students for regular mentor meetings. Along with the mentor program, SIC worked with guidance to begin a MHS BackPack program to provide backpacks and food for many OnTrack students needing food on weekends. The Mentor and Backpack programs will continue in years to come.
