Residents with the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and Dillons Pharmacy in Wichita, Kansas will gain experience in Community Pharmacy Practice, focusing on the development, provision, and evaluation of direct patient care services.
Residents with Dillons will work to develop advanced practice skills implementing and enhancing clinical services in the community pharmacy setting with additional teaching, leadership, and ambulatory care experiences.
The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in Wichita, KS has partnered with Dillons Pharmacy, a division of the Kroger Co., to developed a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency. As an accredited program with ASHP and APhA, the program is currently recruiting one resident for the 2018—2019 residency year.
The purpose of this residency program is to prepare innovative clinical pharmacists who can serve as leaders in a community pharmacy setting, provide direct patient care and cognitive services, and educate patients and other healthcare professionals. Academic and ambulatory care components of the program will help prepare residents to be confident clinicians in various pharmacy settings.

Residents in this program will have the opportunity to work directly with KU students, faculty, and staff while assisting with various teaching opportunities such as precepting, lecturing, and assisting in clinical assessment and skills labs.
The Kroger Co. is present in 34 states with over 2,100 pharmacies across the nation. Dillons Pharmacy, a division of Kroger, has over 50 stores in Kansas, including 21 pharmacies in the greater Wichita area. Dillons Pharmacy’s mission is to improve the lives of our patients and health of our communities by delivering quality care, optimal medication use, and better outcomes. Everyday clinical services include immunizations, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), and point of care testing and screenings. Dillons pharmacists help serve their patients’ overall health needs by providing education and disease state management programs in the areas of diabetes and heart healthy coaching; fitness, nutrition and weight management; and smoking cessation.
