For over half a century, Boston University’s Metropolitan College (BU MET) has brought the academic rigor and resources of an internationally respected research university to busy, working adults via innovative, part-time programs. As one of the 17 degree-granting bodies at BU, MET offers more than 70 graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate programs evenings on campus, online, and in blended formats designed to meet the needs of both the local and global professional community. A laboratory and incubator for new programs, pedagogy, and educational technologies, BU MET ensures that students have access to cutting-edge facilities and the latest learning tools. The BU MET Department of Computer Science was founded in 1979, and has been dedicated to meeting and anticipating the evolving needs of the technology industry with cutting-edge programs ever since. Today, BU MET offers master’s programs in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Software Development, with concentrations in Computer Networks, Data Analytics, Database Management & Business Intelligence, Health Informatics, IT Project Management, Security, and Web Application Development. The Computer Information Systems degree program is accredited by the Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (PMI-GAC).

BU places in the top 5 in the United States for the employability of its graduates by Times Higher Education, and is ranked #39 in the world and #42 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. BU MET’s programs in Information Security are certified by the Committee on National Security Systems, and were instrumental in BU’s designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education and Research by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security.
