UCLA/Charles R. Drew Medical Education Program
Degrees: MD
The mission of the College of Medicine is to provide education, research and clinical service in the context of community engagement in order to train physician leaders who promote wellness, who provide care with excellence and compassion and who are committed to transforming the health of diverse and underserved communities. Students matriculate with the David Geffen School of Medicine and complete their pre-clerkship coursework at the UCLA campus and clinical rotations in South LA and surrounding underserved communities.

Medical Science Training Program (MSTP)
Degrees: MD/PhD
Our MSTP is dedicated to educating and training exceptionally qualified individuals for careers in the biomedical and socio-medical sciences. The average time to complete both degrees for students in the UCLA-Caltech MSTP is eight years. The traditional course of study begins with the first two years of medical school, followed by four years of PhD graduate training, and concluding with the third and fourth years of medical school. The MSTP and David Geffen School of Medicine work with students to enable optimal completion of all aspects of student training.

PRIME-LA (Leadership and Advocacy)
Degrees: MD + Master’s UCLA
PRIME is a five-year dual degree program focusing on the development of leaders in medicine addressing policy, care and research in health care for the underserved. The dual degree program leads to a MD and a Masters in areas that complement the mission of the program. These might include MBA, MPH or Master in Public Policy. The cohort will be composed of approximately 18 students. Students will identify with one of two programs: PRIME Westwood (14) or PRIME-Drew (4). Each program will coordinate with the others but acceptance will be to PRIME-LA.

Summer Pre Health Programs
The UCLA/DREW Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a six week summer enrichment program targeting educationally and financially disadvantaged community college students while also accepting a number of 4-year college students.
The UCLA Pre-medical Enrichment Program (UCLA PREP) is a one week nonresidential summer program that aims to provide promising pre-medical students from educationally and financially disadvantaged backgrounds, with the means of strengthening their ability and readiness to study medicine.
Post-baccalaureate
The UCLA Re-Application Program (UCLA RAP) is an eleven-month post-baccalaureate program offered by the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, designed to assist promising students from disadvantaged backgrounds who were previously unsuccessful in gaining admission to a U.S. medical school.
