A Day in the Life of a ServiTech Associate Agronomy Specialist:
As an Associate Agronomy Specialist, you will effectively employ all available resources and technology to provide customers with the excellence of agronomic information and service generated by ServiTech, Inc.
The Associate Agronomy Specialist will spend their time supporting Senior Agronomy Specialists’ activities, learning processes, building agronomic knowledge, working with growers, and developing their recommendation skills. This position requires an understanding of, and passion for, Agronomy, a desire to learn about ServiTech’s products and services, and the ability to communicate recommendations that show value to the grower. The Associate Agronomy Specialist is responsible for building a customer base and maintaining a profitable book of existing business. This position requires excellent communication skills, relationship-building, and customer service skills to be successful–frequent follow up is expected to clients and regular status updates are required to management. The Associate Agronomy Specialist may be assigned business from other Agronomists as needed to balance workloads. This position will travel to contracted fields to survey, analyze, and report any production problems and to include recommendations or prescriptions to resolve said issues. This position will work towards the successful completion of the Certified Crop Advisor or have the documented equivalent experience, and/or complete continuing education units as necessary. The Associate Agronomy Specialist will participate in mandatory training and mentoring opportunities. This position is based on the farmers’ needs and therefore fluctuates as far as hours worked during peak seasons which include long days, weeks, and months as needed.
The ServiTech Crop Services team has a goal of serving customers and providing excellent service, and Crop Specialists/Agronomist will be expected to perform all duties as assigned by the Territory Leader.
What You’ll Need to Do This Job:
- An Associate degree in agriculture or related major two years of agriculture experience is preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Relationship building and sales skills
- The ability to manage difficult or emotional situations, responds promptly to customer needs, resolve questions, complaints, and concerns immediately, and meets commitments
- Willingness to seek out and attend continuing education and job-related educational opportunities
- A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and the ability to travel for hours at a time
- A Certified Crop Advisor designation is preferred, but not required
- A desire to be involved in agriculture and work for a Cooperative
- Physically this position demands that an employee sit for long periods of time and walk fields daily during peak seasons
- The ability to stand, stoop, bend and kneel when performing routine job duties
- This position may require climbing ladders and will require getting in and out of (and up and down from) large equipment
- You must be able to regularly lift at least 50 pounds
- All other duties as assigned by management

Summer Internship Position Openings

Job title: Summer Internship – crop scouting
Job Definition: The summer intern will work with the area crop specialist in weekly field monitoring and consulting which is providing crop production advice to agricultural producers and production managers. Responsibilities include identifying field production problems related to weeds, diseases, and insects. In addition, assist in GPS field mapping with an ATV. Using an Ipad and laptop computer is required and is provided.
Job Qualifications: Agronomy, soils, crop science, entomology, Ag business or other Ag college majors are preferred but not necessary.
Servi-Tech is located in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.
