Alief ISD is located on the west side of Houston in the International District, near Beltway 8 and the Westpark Tollway.  We have approximately 46,000 students and 47 schools (24 elementary schools, 6 intermediate schools, 6 middle schools, 5 high schools, 2 ninth grade centers, 3 non-traditional high schools, and a new CTE Center).  Our student population is very diverse (mostly Hispanic, African American, & Asian) with 80+ languages spoken by our students.  Our school district has been named a Top Workplace by the Houston Chronicle for 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019.  The Houston Chronicle has also recognized Alief ISD for our outstanding professional learning/new teacher program called Alief U.  Alief ISD offers the highest salary of $57,400 for a 1st year teacher and lowest insurance premiums, providing our employees with the highest take home pay of any Houston area district.  We also offer $4500 stipends for high need areas (ex-bilingual, high school science & math).
