Twain Harte Veterinary Hospital offers state of the art veterinary mentorship in small animal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.  We also provide avian/exotic medicine, wildlife medicine, shelter medicine (heavily involved with local rescue organizations). Our services include dentistry, surgery, digital radiology, ultrasound (new Sonosite equipment).  We offer a positive and enriching learning environment with excellent support staff. Our practice is very family oriented as many of our veterinarians and support staff have children. We are a 3-4 doctor practice currently operating with two doctors.  Looking for our third, and possibly fourth associate to join the team.  Ideally looking for someone who wants to join our practice and community long term.  Definite possibility for practice buy-in, partnership in the future for highly motivated candidates.   

Mentorship: 

Dr. Kelsey Strand graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.  She began working in the veterinary field at age 13.  She has mentored several new graduates over the years, and has received mentorship from many great veterinarians.  She purchased Twain Harte Veterinary Hospital in 2015.  She focuses in internal medicine, avian medicine, and dermatology.  She enjoys mentoring new graduates in all areas but especially surgery, and being able to share in the learning process.

Dr. Shelby Temple- "Dr Shelby Temple graduated from University College Dublin ("the other UCD") in 2019.  She enjoys surgery and internal medicine the most, but truly likes all aspects of veterinary medicine -- and loves discussing the field and any interesting cases with others whenever possible."

The area:

Twain Harte CA is the perfect place to live, work and play.  We are located at an elevation of 3500 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains just an hour north of Yosemite.  The area has two live theaters, golf courses, wineries, snow and water skiing, a community college and much exceptional hiking and outdoor activities.  

Hiking and Camping - this area offers an infinite number of scenic hikes to enjoy with your four legged friends.  Kennedy Meadows at an elevation of roughly 7000 ft, is only a 45 min drive, offers some of the best hiking in the world, horse back riding, camping and cabin rentals

Mentorship package:

Twain Harte Veterinary Hospital offers a generous base salary with potential for more based on percentage production.  For our veterinarians, we cover health insurance, continuing education allotments, retirement distributions and CVMA/license fees.  Experienced/seasoned applicants also welcome!  Moving expense allotments also considered for out of state candidates who need help relocating.
