Yale Physician Assistant Online Program
The mission of Yale PA Online is to improve the health of all people by transforming medical education through innovation.
Yale’s PA Online Program awards a Master of Medical Science (MMSc) and prepares graduates to seek licensure as physician assistants. The curriculum blends 12 months of online didactic course work and face-to-face sessions in a virtual classroom, with in-person learning experiences, including 16 months of clinical experiences and two separate one-week immersions on Yale's campus.
The Yale PA Online Program enrolls ambitious, promising students from across the country. Our students come from diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds. However, all candidates should display essential characteristics such as intelligence, maturity, and motivation to advance the physician assistant profession.
The Yale PA Online Program accepts students with a wide range of educational backgrounds and patient-care experiences. No preference is given to applicants who have majored in science over those who have majored in other fields of study. We believe a variety of patient-care and educational experiences contributes to the diversity of the program.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Admissions team at admissions@paonline.yale.edu or 844-433-9253.
Accreditation
At its June 2022 meeting, the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) placed the Yale Physician Assistant Online Program sponsored by Yale University School of Medicine on Accreditation-Probation status until its next review in June 2024.
Probation accreditation is a temporary accreditation status initially of not less than two years. However, that period may be extended by the ARC-PA for up to an additional two years if the ARC-PA finds that the program is making substantial progress toward meeting all applicable standards but requires additional time to come into full compliance. Probation accreditation status is granted, at the sole discretion of the ARC-PA, when a program holding an accreditation status of Accreditation – Provisional or Accreditation – Continued does not, in the judgment of the ARC-PA, meet the Standards or when the capability of the program to provide an acceptable educational experience for its students is threatened.
Once placed on probation, a program that fails to comply with accreditation requirements in a timely manner, as specified by the ARC-PA, may be scheduled for a focused site visit and is subject to having its accreditation withdrawn.

The Yale School of Medicine and Yale University fully support the Physician Assistant Online Program and are actively addressing the concerns raised by the ARC-PA. We have successfully responded to four of five areas of concern, and are confident the remaining issue will be resolved.
