About

At Lehigh, graduate students make significant contributions to the intellectual and social life of the University. Graduate students in the college experience individual attention combined with state-of-the-art laboratories, libraries and research facilities found only a research university. The College of Arts and Sciences is a vigorous learning environment where quality instruction and innovative scholarship are the norms. Faculty members are accessible and involved in the learning process as teachers, mentors and active scholars. Many are recognized nationally and internationally for their research activities.

Graduate students are the keystone of academic life within the College of Arts and Sciences. Approximately 90% of students receive funding and approximately 75% of students are fully funded. Lehigh has a vibrant graduate student life office that provides many opportunities for students across colleges to meet in a social setting and become involved in graduate activities across the university.

Where is Lehigh?
Lehigh’s beautiful hillside campus in Bethlehem, PA, is less than two hours from New York City, Philadelphia, the Pocono Mountains, and the New Jersey shore. Situated on South Mountain, Lehigh’s campus is home to a unique mix of modern, state-of-the-art facilities and historic, ivy covered stone buildings – some 148 in all – containing more than 3.5 million-plus square feet of classroom, laboratory, office, and living space. Bethlehem (settled in 1741) is located in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania’s third largest metropolitan area, and is a major tourist attraction featuring restored colonial buildings, quaint shops and special events.

Our Commitment to Diversity
The College of Arts and Sciences is a community of scholars and educators who share a passion for the pursuit of knowledge and the expansion of our understanding of the world. We invite applications from students whose breadth of academic experience and fitness for the specific field of study suggest the potential for scholarly achievement. At Lehigh, graduate students make significant contributions to the intellectual and social life of the University. A highly talented and diverse student body significantly heightens the character and quality of the academic culture and community. To this end, the College of Arts and Sciences is constantly working to increase the pool of graduate scholars from diverse backgrounds.
