PRECISION HEALTHCARE ROBOTICS
Neocis is transforming dental implant surgery with advanced robotics. The company is focused on enhancing dental surgeons’ capabilities and advancing patient care through the latest technology.
Neocis works closely with dental surgeons to understand their needs with the goal of overcoming surgical and treatment challenges. The company is driven to innovate and committed to bring new approaches to improve patient care and quality of life.
Neocis Inc. was founded in Miami, Florida in 2009 by Alon Mozes, PhD, and Juan Salcedo. They had a common background in robotic surgery from their prior experience with Mako Surgical, where they were two of the first principal engineers to develop the revolutionary RIO system for robotic guided orthopedics.
After Mako had a successful IPO and ultimately sold to Stryker for $1.65B, Mozes and Salcedo searched for another medical market that would be a natural fit for haptic guided robotic surgery. With Mozes’s father being an endodontist for 30 years, they naturally turned to the dental industry. Dental implants proved to be a tremendous market opportunity and haptic guidance a perfect fit for the clinical procedure. Mozes and Salcedo spent years developing the prototype and patenting the technology.
In 2012, Neocis secured its first round of funding with lead investor Fred Moll, who founded several successful robotic surgery companies including Intuitive Surgical, which created the da Vinci Surgical System. They hired their first employee, Director of Software David Cole, and curated a team to create a system ready for clinical use. They have since brought key Silicon Valley investors on board, including Mithril Capital Management.
Neocis completed a successful clinical study for Yomi Robot-Assisted Dental Surgery in 2016 leading to market clearance from the FDA at the end of 2016.
Yomi is the first and only robot-assisted dental surgery system to be commercially available in the United States and is in clinical use with leading dental surgeons. Neocis is partnering with key Pioneer surgeons across the United States to establish robot-assisted dental surgery as the new standard of care for dental implants.
