Our Mission

Prepare compassionate and ethical health professionals who strive for excellence through interprofessional collaboration, and who are responsive to an ever-changing global environment. We accomplish this by fostering a dynamic learning community dedicated to innovative teaching and learning, engaged scholarship and service.

Interprofessional Curriculum

Each program’s curriculum has been developed in collaboration with the other programs to ensure students are equipped with the skills and competencies necessary to be part of a successful health care team. The research is clear; a team-based approach to health care results in more competent clinicians and better health care delivery.

Interprofessional Health Sciences Building

Our state-of-the-art building is constructed to support interprofessional education (IPE). Classrooms offer the latest in instructional technology. In addition to multiple screen viewing, lecture capture capability allows students to review classroom lectures anywhere, anytime. Video conferencing brings the world to Murphy Deming and supports guest lecturers, telemedicine experiences, and teaming opportunities. The building has numerous indoor and outdoor gathering spaces to engender learning, support group activities, and provide quiet study time.

Interprofessional Faculty

Our nationally recognized faculty, many of whom are also practicing clinicians, work as a team to make the interprofessional curriculum a reality. Countless hours have been dedicated to identifying IPE objectives, and developing team-based assignments and case studies. Assessment processes and research initiatives are also an important part of faculty IPE activities.

We believe our students’ experiences, both in and out of the classroom, enables them to become outstanding clinicians and contributing citizens to the health of the communities they serve for years to come.
