About

Founded in 1904, University of Western States (UWS) is the second oldest chiropractic physician program in the world. It has since evolved into a leading institution for an evidence-informed, science-based education, with a focus on health and wellness. UWS is institutionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) – www.nwccu.org

University of Western States has an enduring commitment to educating health sciences practitioners with a passion for patient care. The university motto “For the good of the patient” guides every aspect of the institution and enables UWS to fulfill its mission of improving the health of society through conservative, patient-centered care.

Extending this pursuit beyond campus, UWS has cultivated several key community partnerships and is a founding member of the Oregon Collaborative for Integrative Medicine (OCIM). This collaborative provides students, faculty and staff the opportunity be a part of interdisciplinary education, research and advocacy for patients in support of integrated care.

UWS is located in Portland, Oregon, a beautiful city situated in the progressive Pacific Northwest. This area embraces innovative approaches to health and well-being, making it the ideal locale to learn, develop and practice the whole-person health care taught at University of Western States.

DOCTOR OF CHIROPRACTIC

Our doctor of chiropractic program is a rigorous 12 academic-quarter, first-professional doctorate program that focuses on evidence-informed, science-based education. The program offers a strong clinical component, allowing students to receive hands-on experience in the evaluation and care of patients.

The master’s in sports medicine degree program allows a graduate to specialize with amateur or professional athletes in a clinic or as a team physician. Students take in-depth courses in sports medicine and injury management culminating in a capstone experience.
