Physician Assistant (PA) Program
 

George Fox University offers a new six-semester, 112-credit Physician Assistant (PA) program, which awards a Master of Medical Science (MMSc) degree. The full-time program begins with a new cohort each January, with classes held in person the first year at the university’s new state of the art health professions building in Newberg and affiliated clinic sites the second year.

The program develops well-informed, resilient, and compassionate PAs who provide patient-centered and service-oriented care in diverse environments to transform healthcare for the benefit of people and their communities.

Admissions Requirements

  • CASPA Application Verified by September 15, 2023
  • Bachelor's degree completed by the application deadline in the United States through a regionally accredited institution. If this degree is completed outside of the United States, original and evaluated transcripts must be included in this application.
  • Cumulative GPA, BCP (Biology/Chemistry/Physics) GPA, and Prerequisite* GPA meet the 3.0 minimum
    • *Each prerequisite class (lecture and lab) must meet the 3.0 minimum 
    • Average GPAs of admitted students: Cum - 3.76, BCP - 3.74, Prereq - 3.85
    • Prerequisites:
      • Anatomy/Physiology (8 credits) - Anatomy and Physiology courses that are a part of military training (with a pass grade) and as reflected on CCAF or JST transcripts meet this requirement
      • General Biology with lab (4 credits)
      • Other Biology (3 credits): General Biology II, Genetics, Cell Biology, Histology, Immunology, Virology, Epidemiology, Biochemistry (if not listed for Other Chemistry)
      • Microbiology (3 credits)
      • General Chemistry with lab (4 credits)
      • Other Chemistry (3 credits): General Chemistry II, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry (if not listed for Other Biology)
      • Psychology (3 credits)
      • Statistics (3 credits): General Statistics, Behavioral Statistics, Biostatistics. Business Statistics will not be accepted
      • All prerequisites must be completed by Sept 1 deadline from a regionally accredited institution in the United States. Applications will be reviewed when 1 or less prerequisites are In Progress.
      • AP Credit or CLEP scores Do Not meet these requirements
  • No Standardized Test is Required (GRE, MCAT, PA-CAT, or CASPer are not required nor are they considered)
  • Patient Care Experience (PCE) is not required to apply, however, it will be scored. Applicants are encouraged to have at least 1000 hours of qualifying paid Patient Care Experience. 
    • Average PCE Hours of admitted students: 4209
  • Volunteer Experience is not required to apply, however, it will be scored. Applicants are encouraged to have at least 150 hours of qualifying service hours. This does not have to be in a healthcare setting.
    • Average Volunteer Hours of admitted students: 1155
  • (3) Professional References: (2) healthcare providers that are or have been supervisors or co-workers and (1) academic preferred, but not required. If an Academic Reference is not available a third professional reference may be submitted.
