About

Increasingly a graduate degree is a key to securing and maintaining a career, advancing oneself intellectually and professionally, and understanding the complexity of scientific, social, and cultural problems as they evolve. Lehigh University embraces a vision of high-quality graduate education to support the professional and personal ambitions of its students. As a medium-size research university, Lehigh provides students with state-of-the-art facilities while maintaining program sizes that allow close collaboration between faculty and students. Lehigh’s graduate vision is to foster teaching and scholarship in a liberal arts college where students benefit from close mentoring relationships with faculty.

WHERE IS LEHIGH?
Lehigh’s beautiful hillside campus in Bethlehem, PA, is less than two hours from New York City,  Philadelphia, the Pocono Mountains, and the New Jersey shore. Situated on South Mountain, Lehigh’s campus is home to a unique mix of modern, state-of-the-art facilities and historic, ivy covered stone buildings – some 148 in all – containing more than 3.5 million-plus square feet of classroom, laboratory, office, and living space. Bethlehem (settled in 1741) is located in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania’s third largest metropolitan area, and is a major tourist attraction featuring restored colonial buildings, quaint shops and special events.

Lehigh University's College of Arts and Sciences is a vigorous learning environment where quality instruction and innovative scholarship are the norms. Faculty and students work in cutting-edge laboratories, in seminars, in the field, and in studios to heighten our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Faculty members are accessible and involved in the learning process as teachers, mentors and active scholars. Many are recognized nationally and internationally for their research activities.

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY

The College of Arts and Sciences is a community of scholars and educators who share a passion for the pursuit of knowledge and the expansion of our understanding of the world. We invite applications from students whose breadth of academic experience and fitness for the specific field of study suggest the potential for scholarly achievement. At Lehigh, graduate students make significant contributions to the intellectual and social life of the University. A highly talented and diverse student body significantly heightens the character and quality of the academic culture and community. To this end, the College of Arts and Sciences is constantly working to increase the pool of graduate scholars from diverse backgrounds.
