About

Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Since 1972, Oklahoma State University College has trained osteopathic physicians with more than half of our graduates staying in Oklahoma to practice medicine. Graduates practice in primary care (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics, and gynecology), and specialties such as dermatology, neurology, surgery, and ophthalmology, among other competitive specialties.

OSU's mission is to produce primary care physicians for rural and underserved Oklahoma. That mission is crucial as continued shortages of primary care physicians challenge the state. To address this need, OSU offers four medical education tracks to give students interested in rural health, tribal health, urban/underserved medicine, or global health additional education and training opportunities.

OSU Center for Health Services and the Cherokee Nation partnered to establish the nation's only tribally affiliated medical school in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Starting with the Class of 2028, students will earn a Doctor of Osteopathic Medical degree and a Master of Science degree in Medical Sciences (MSCI). It is designed to provide dual credit for the DO students to receive credit for their DO curriculum in the parallel Biomedical Sciences courses.

If you're interested in research, there are several opportunities to get involved on our campuses. OSU-COM offers hypothesis-based research, clinical sciences, and other scientific research opportunities. The Office of Medical Student Research was established for medical students interested in research to learn about opportunities on campus. Students develop investigation skills through the pursuit of discoveries under the direction of a faculty research member.

Admitted students to OSU-COM with permanent residency in Kansas, Arkansas, or Missouri who have at least a 3.5 GPA and at least a 500 on their MCAT are eligible for an out-of-state tuition waiver. Admitted students with permanent residency from Texas who meet criteria may be eligible for scholarships.
