About Rutgers School of Social Work

Rutgers University’s School of Social Work provides a graduate experience that is unparalleled in research, innovation and real-world training.  Quality of faculty, outstanding reputation and the important community partnerships that the School has cultivated are some of the top reasons new students tell us they selected Rutgers for their Master of Social Work degree.

The School is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, and is ranked as one of the top schools of social work in the country.  Students admitted to Rutgers MSW programs come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, creating a unique classroom learning environment.  The MSW is offered in four distinct formats; the Intensive Weekend MSW is specifically designed for working professionals in the human services, the 100% Online and Blended MSW programs are designed for self-directed learners who seek the convenience and flexibility of online learning; and the Traditional, on-campus MSW allows for full or part-time study at any of Rutgers three New Jersey campuses.  Students with an earned bachelor’s degree in social work have the opportunity to complete their MSW at an accelerated pace in an Advanced Standing program.

MSW students select a concentration in Clinical or Management and Policy and may also create an area of emphasis that adds depth to their graduate experience.  In addition, MSW students at Rutgers have the opportunity to complete certificates in Aging and Health, Addiction Counselor Training and Violence Against Women and Children.  Through completion of a foundation and advanced level field placement, students gain hands-on experience in the setting of their choice and learn from experienced social work professionals.

As a tier one public research institution, the Rutgers School of Social Work is able to offer an exceptional education at an affordable cost.  In addition to financial aid, students may apply for graduate assistantships, fellowships and scholarships upon admission.  More information is available at https://socialwork.rutgers.edu/.  Or contact the admissions team by calling 848.932.7520 ext 2 or emailing admissions@ssw.rutgers.edu.
