Juan Seguin Elementary School...Where HEROES come to learn!
Juan Seguin Elementary School is an ESL/non-Title I campus located in Fort Bend County in Richmond, Texas. We serve primarily a diverse student population residing in the Richmond/Southwest area. Juan Seguin Elementary School opened its doors in 2009.
Our enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year has fluctuated between 600 - 650 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. The total enrollment has steadily increased over the last 3 years and there has been an average amount of 6-7 classes per grade level. The projected enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year is 788 students, which is approximately 138 more students than the previous year.
The demographic distribution at Juan Seguin Elementary School has changed throughout the years as well. During the 2020-2021 school year, the ethnic distribution was 38% African American, 22% Hispanic, 9% White, 1% American Indian, 26% Asian, and 0% Pacific Islander and 4% of Two or More Races. Juan Seguin Elementary School serves 50% economically disadvantaged students and 30% English Language Learners. The average daily attendance rate for students is 96%. There were no student disciplinary placements for the 2020-2021 school year. A total of 67 (10%) students have been identified as having special needs and approximately 12 (2%) students have been identified as gifted and talented this year. Juan Seguin serves students with special needs through resource/pull-out and in-class support; the Succeeding in Academic and Independent Living Skills (SAILS) Program and the Academic, Behavior, and Communication (ABC) Program. In addition, JSES provides a comprehensive English as a Second Language (ESL) Program as well as Guidance and Counseling lessons for all students.
