UNLVPT: The Department of Physical Therapy offers a fully accredited physical therapy program leading to a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.  The program of study consists of 112 credit hours of intense academic and clinical course work over 6 semesters and 3 summers.  One cohort of 36 students begins the program each year in June. 

Admissions requirements: The deadline for applications is November 2nd, 2015.  Classes will start in June 2016.  Applicants must apply to UNLVPT using the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). In addition, applicants must apply to the UNLV Graduate College.  The following are considered for admission into the UNLVPT DPT program:

• Overall GPA (minimum 3.0 out of 4.0)
• Prerequisite GPA (minimum 3.0 out of 4.10)
• Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
• 100 volunteer / work hours (2 different settings)
• 3 letters of recommendation (2 from a licensed PT)

Prerequisites:

In addition to completing the requirements for a baccalaureate degree, applicants must complete prerequisite course work with a grade of at least a “C".  No more than 2 prerequisite courses may be in progress during the Spring semester prior to the June start date.  The following prerequisite classes are required for admission to  UNLVPT:

• Biology: one year, lecture based
• Anatomy and Physiology: one year, lecture and lab
• Chemistry: one year, lecture and lab
  
  • Organic or Inorganic
• Physics: one year, lecture and lab
• Psychology: one year
  
  • One course general psychology
  • One course child, adolescent, developmental, abnormal, etc.
• Statistics: one course, lecture based

Program stats:

• 100% of all program graduates have gone on to pass the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE)
• Since 2001, approx. 94% of UNLVPT graduates passed the NPTE on their first attempt.
