Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
Huntington, Ind. (home campus)

HU’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program offers students the opportunity to earn an associate degree and bachelor's degree at the same time. An OTA graduate may enter the workforce following successful passing of the national exam or apply to a master's or doctoral program to become an occupational therapist. For example, students may wish to use their earned HU bachelor’s degree to apply to other masters and doctoral programs such as a masters in speech and language pathology or a doctorate in physical therapy and become a dual credentialed professional. To help offset doctoral program costs, OTA graduates can work part-time while pursuing their doctorate. For example, an OTA working part-time in the Fort Wayne/Huntington area, would typically earn $25-$35 per hour.

The OTA program is positioned to be one of the first in the country to offer the OTA at the bachelor’s level (ACOTE standard revisions projected for 2020). Upon completion of the accreditation process, the program will qualify students to sit for the national certification examination in occupational therapy assistant (NBCOT). Program candidates may apply for admission to the OTA program during their sophomore year.

OTA Program Distinctives:
