About

Pace Law School transforms students into effective new lawyers who possess the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to make an immediate and positive impact on their chosen field of law.

Pace Law continually seeks ways to better serve its students and society. Combining a rigorous academic curriculum, intensive hands-on practical experiences, real client and courtroom exposure, and a variety of opportunities to broaden their skills, Pace students graduate with a deep, comprehensive, and integrated understanding of the law and its application.

Innovative programs

Pace Law School’s curriculum reflects a philosophy that students benefit most from exposure to the real-world meaning of the abstract concepts they learn in the classroom. By providing students with the opportunity for deep exploration of legal processes – from framing arguments to filing lawsuits, as advocates or as litigators – students emerge with a complete understanding of how the law works. This depth of knowledge is critical for anyone who hopes to succeed as a lawyer in a private firm, corporation, non-profit organization, government agency, or academic setting.

Pace is nationally recognized for excellence in several areas, including the quality and breadth of its clinical, legal writing and research, and environmental law programs. These and other programs are continually evaluated and reshaped to help ensure that they equip our students with the tools needed to meet the challenges of a dynamic – and increasingly global – legal landscape. Our students help make important decisions about our curriculum and faculty hiring, and help shape our programs so that they continue to align with the needs and interests of our diverse student body.

At Pace, we strongly believe that the legal profession, and ultimately the judiciary, should reflect the nation's ethnic and cultural makeup. We also believe that attorneys who create, defend, and challenge public policy in the U.S. should be truly informed about the issues faced by the people they serve, and diverse populations around the world. By attracting qualified, traditionally underrepresented applicants through our strong financial aid and scholarship programs, Pace is working to help ensure these goals.

A stimulating environment

The strength of Pace’s curriculum is enhanced by our diverse community of scholars. Out of a student body of just over 550 students, approximately 56% are women and 18% represent ethnic and racial minorities. Students come to Pace from 33 U.S. states and several foreign countries. Many have extensive work experience and advanced degrees in other fields, including medicine, business, science, and technology. Each student brings unique perspectives and ideas to our classrooms and our programs.

Pace’s accomplished faculty – comprised of dedicated scholars, researchers and practitioners – bring extensive experience and innovative teaching techniques to the classroom by combining stimulating coursework, lively classroom discussion, with practical advice. They are committed to furthering their own legal scholarship and ensuring that students receive superior preparation to become knowledgeable, confident, successful attorneys. A low student-to-teacher ratio means students consistently receive the individual attention and support they deserve.

Boundless opportunity

Unlike many law schools, Pace offers a true campus setting with 12 acres of landscaped grounds in an opportunity-rich, urban environment. Located in White Plains, New York, students have easy access to both New York City and the beautiful Hudson Valley, and benefit from myriad social, cultural, and professional opportunities.

Beyond our extensive curricular programs, which include rewarding clinical and externship experiences, Pace students have access to a number of extracurricular activities such as student-run organizations and law reviews, several prominent on-campus lecture series, and research in our highly regarded centers. Each opportunity allows students to expand their knowledge, showcase their abilities, and ultimately make a difference in the lives of others – even before they complete their degrees.

When students graduate, their connection to Pace endures. New graduates join more than 7,500 Pace Law School alumni in 43 U.S. states and overseas, who work in both the public and private sectors as lawyers, prosecutors, counselors, judges, and business leaders. Our alumni help each other secure prestigious positions in law firms, non-profits and the government, and often act as mentors and counselors. The Center for Career and Professional Development, a vital resource for Pace students, continues to assist alumni long after commencement, helping them explore new career options and capitalize on their strengths.
