Overview of Program

The mission of the College of Optometry is to prepare, educate and train optometric physicians to practice at the highest level of proficiency, integrity, and professionalism; and to provide an inter-professional environment that encourages scholarly activity, service, and lifelong learning.

We are proud to live and work in the South Florida community and provide eye care to this diverse area. We strive to attract students from across the United States, Canada and beyond. While 45% of our students come from the "sunshine state" of Florida, over 35 different US States are represented in our student population with the highest populations coming from New York, Ohio, Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Canada is well represented with approximately 10% of our student population coming from 5 different Canadian provinces. The diversity of our classes truly reflects our local community with over 27% of our students being self-described as Black/African American or Hispanic/Latino or American Indian/Alaska Native. Applicants to our program are considered "competitive" applicants with Optometry Admissions Test (OAT) scores of 320 or above and grade point averages (GPA) of 3.4 or above

We believe that when choosing a School or College of Optometry, you should find a school where you can do your best. Find an environment and location where you feel comfortable and will be able to perform at your highest level. We invite you to visit Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry to see all that we have to offer our students. Please contact our admissions department to schedule a 15-minute telephone information session and a tour of our beautiful South Florida campus.
