About

Manchester University is accepting applications for its Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics (MS in PGx) online and on-campus program. The MS in PGx on-campus program is located in the highly visible and rapidly growing health care corridor near I-69 and Dupont Road in Fort Wayne Indiana. The inaugural on-campus class graduated in May 2017. The first online cohort will begin in January 2018!

The mission of the Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics program is to 'graduate individuals of ability and conviction who benefit society through the application of pharmacogenomics in precision medicine.'

Faculty

We have 5-8 faculty teach within the program. Courses are taught in pharmacology, human genetics, bioinformatics, advanced pharmacokinetics, biostatistics, advanced molecular biology, applied pharmacogenomics, and analytical technology. A diverse faculty from throughout the country and from a variety of backgrounds collaborate with biomedical scientists from area universities on professional research to improve the human condition.

Research & Labs

This 80,000-square-foot LEED Gold certified building features state-of-the-art facilities and attractive, contemporary settings featuring flexible spaces and top-rate technology. Students enrolled in the Pharmacogenomics program have the opportunity to work with various lab equipment, such as the Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex System, QuantStudio 12K Flex Real-Time PRC System, and the Applied Biosystems StepOne Real-Time PRC System. Tuition

Tuition for the on-campus program is $27,200. A facility and lab fee of $2,800 covers program laptop, support, infrastructure and access to online textbook resources, for a total of $30,000 for tuition and fees. The online degree can be earned in as little as two years (six semesters); or, students may opt to take individual courses in the prescribed sequence at their own pace. School History

Manchester University traces its origin to the Roanoke Classical Seminary founded by the United Brethren Church in Roanoke, Indiana in 1860.

  • The seminary became North Manchester College when it was moved to North Manchester, Indiana in 1889
  • Mount Morris College in Mount Morris, Illinois, merged with Manchester College in 1932
  • The number of supporting districts increased and, by 1932, Manchester College served the five-state area of Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin.
  • Established in 1948, the Peace Studies Institute and Program in Conflict Resolution at Manchester University pioneered as the first undergraduate Peace Studies program in the world. 
  • In July 2012, Manchester College became Manchester University, and in August 2012, enrolled its first doctoral class in pharmacy at a second campus in Fort Wayne, Indiana
  • In May 2016, Manchester University launched the nation's first dedicated master's degree in pharmacogenomics.

Other Information

Manchester University’s Master of Science in Pharmacogenomics program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Students interested in the online program, can choose between two start dates (Spring/January and Fall/August); the online program can be completed in as little as two years.
