The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Bridge Program at New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) is a hybrid accelerated DPT Bridge program designed for licensed physical therapist assistants (PTAs) to expand on their academic and clinical experience to promote health, wellness, and function in diverse populations. The program bridges licensed PTAs to become contemporary Doctors of Physical Therapy, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be independent practitioners who optimize movement, improve health, and transform society. This program is a 27-month hybrid DPT program. 

During the 27-month program, students learn didactic content remotely from home and then travel to East Greenwich, Rhode Island, for seven one-week lab immersion experiences spread over the curriculum. Students will build on their existing PTA professional knowledge through an innovative experiential curriculum combining didactic and clinical experiences to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills to be DPTs. Students will have opportunities to focus on areas of clinical interest through the program. NEIT's DPT Bridge program graduates will be clinicians, educators, scholars, and leaders who are contemporary, autonomous, and collaborative healthcare providers committed to service and lifelong learning. The DPT Bridge Program provides an innovative and transformative educational pathway for licensed PTAs to practice at the highest level of the Physical Therapy profession. 

The DPT Bridge program is committed to advancing physical therapist assistants and the physical therapy profession by fostering the development of self-directed, adaptable, and compassionate practitioners. This commitment facilitates an academic approach that encourages curiosity, a growth mindset, and lifelong learning among the program’s faculty and students.  The DPT Bridge program utilizes a developmental learning process saturated with opportunities for active student engagement, reflection in and on action, and formative feedback, all of which contribute to learning for mastery.
