About

The UW PharmD program is founded on the premise that pharmacists are essential to the health care team — playing a key role in improving human health and bettering people’s lives.

We are proud of our current and former students. Our successful and committed alumni are testament to the power of being a UW-trained pharmacist.

Learn from the Best

Consistently ranked in the Top 10 nationwide, the UW School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and committed to providing students with an academically rigorous and well-rounded education. As a student in our program you will work closely with our exceptional faculty who care about your interests and professional development.

Discover your Options

Unlike other programs, we offer a wide range of electives, such as a Geriatric certificate and the Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research & Policy Program in addition to countless opportunities for community outreach, leadership development, hands-on training, research and collaborations in the city of Seattle – a national leader in biotechnology.

The UW School of Pharmacy has partnerships with world-class health organizations like Harborview Medical Center, Swedish Hospital, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Virginia Mason, Cancer Care Alliance, and Seattle Children’s Hospital, expanding opportunities for our students.

Succeed in the Curriculum

The curriculum of the PharmD program provides students with the scientific background and clinical skills necessary to take the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE) and to enter professional practice.

Our instructional methods emphasize the critical thinking, problem-solving, and clinical skills necessary to provide rational drug therapy, reduce medication-related problems, promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention, optimize health outcomes, enhance patient adherence and render care in a changing health care system. We are committed to life-long learning and provide an environment where students develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required by the profession.

Join a Center of Excellence

The UW School of Pharmacy fosters an environment supportive of innovation, discovery and leadership. We are committed to a culture that is open, ethical and collaborative. The School is proud of our record of regional, national and global initiatives aimed at meeting the needs of a diverse range of communities. A shared commitment to reduce health disparities, increase access to health care and improve health serves as the impetus for many of these initiatives.

Through their involvement in these projects, students have inspired the pharmacy practice community and created positive change. We are part of the world-renowned UW Health Sciences Center that also includes the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health and Social Work. Interprofessional collaboration is built directly into the curriculum and is actively encouraged.
