The primary mission of the EastPoint Residency Program is to train Prosthetists/Orthotists to attain the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become excellent Prosthetists and Orthotists who are committed to providing the highest quality services. We seek to enable prosthetists/orthotists, from diverse backgrounds, to become leaders in whatever setting they choose for their career. Staff are actively involved as teachers, role model clinicians, advisers and mentors who are committed to helping residents. Residents learn to provide compassionate, respectful, patient-centered, cost effective, and evidence-based care, improving the health status of the clients in communities we serve. The primary instructional strategy is experiential learning, which occurs through the residents’ meaningful patient care responsibility and graduated autonomy. Through direct observation and feedback from staff residents first learn the fundamentals of patient care. Over time, residents develop the skills of self-evaluation and reflective practice in order to improve their own skills throughout their career.
