Students from San Antonio, across Texas and around the world are drawn to a diverse offering of 33 bachelor’s, 14 master’s and two doctoral programs. The Worden School, established in 1942, was the first school of social work in Texas and remains one of our most popular programs. The Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work programs enjoy partnerships with an extensive network of public and private social service agencies that provide a range of opportunities for student internships.
One of our fastest-growing programs is Computer Information Systems and Security, which is certified by the National Security Agency. Graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to receive the Information Assurance Scholarship from the Department of Defense, an award three OLLU students have won.
The distinctive spires that crown Main Building, the soaring steeple atop Sacred Heart Conventual Chapel and the breathtaking facade of Main set OLLU apart. Neighbors and visitors often liken the front of the University to the “Disneyland castle.”
Constructed in 1895 and rebuilt after a four-alarm fire in 2008, Main Building captures the birth, growth and renewal of the University. The fire led to a restoration of Main that brought the building up to 21st Century academic-facility standards while maintaining its historic beauty. The renovations earned Main Building a 2013 Preservation Texas Honor Award. Preseveration Texas wrote the following: “Today, Main Building stands as an inspiration to all in San Antonio as one of the first iconic contributors to the revitalization of a neighborhood that is primed for growth and investments.”
Another magnificent place: Sacred Heart Conventual Chapel, renowned for its spires, Italian marble altars and German stained glass windows. The historic beauty extends across campus, to such buildings as St. Anne’s Hall and Moye Hall, which were designed in Victorian gothic style.
OLLU also has locations in The Woodlands in north Houston and in La Feria in the Rio Grande Valley. These locations provide busy professionals with the opportunity to attend classes on the weekend and complete a degree while still working fulltime.
