The Power of Virtual Fairs

Participating in a Virtual Fair is an excellent way to connect schools with prospective students from across the country and around the world. Please see comments below from prior participants in a past Social Work Grad School School Virtual Fair. (Click HERE to scroll directly to the Student Comments.)

Comments from School Representatives

  • It is very easy to use!
  • Much fun. Such a different way to interact!
  • It’s great for prospective students who may not be able to afford to come out to visit the school, international applicants, and those who are just starting their grad school search.
  • It’s interesting, very fast paced! But I like how accessible it is to students!
  • It’s very convenient.
  • Easy to use. No issues at all.
  • I like it a lot. I feel that it’s a great way to reach a good number of prospects that I normally wouldn’t have access to.
  • I like that it’s so easy for students to get information from a number of schools without having to travel.
  • I like that you have time to look up answers if you don’t have them. It’s just nice!
  • I like that I can combine the conversational piece common in live, in-person fairs and the ability to link out to more information immediately. Each enhances the other.
  • It’s a great way for students to have an opportunity to speak to schools that they may not be able to visit. And, it’s great for the schools too!
  • I like the format, that we can talk to a group and individuals at the same time. The flexibility of the whole thing, the ability to have accessible documents in a file, and the ability to refer them to our website and social media immediately from the room where they can explore and come back if need be. It is like having a total package at my fingertips.

Comments from Prospective Students

  • I like talking to people live and being able to get clarification. It has helped me pick and choose what schools I prefer to apply for.
  • There is a personal interaction with the representatives and all of your questions are answered on cue.
  • It is easy to communicate, and the people giving the information are very informative.
  • I’m really getting a feel for my priorities in terms of the different schools I’ve been looking into. Being able to interact with a person from the school (rather than just their website or understood reputation) has made me reorder my choices. And I’ve only been online about 35 minutes! Couldn’t be happier to have this opportunity. Mostly it’s reassuring to get feedback that reinforces that I’ve been on the right track.
  • I appreciate the Virtual Fair, especially since I currently live in rural America. I’m looking to branch out with my education and this helps narrow down possibilities.
  • I just went back and read what everyone asked. I like that you can read prior posts.
  • It has been amazing. All my questions are being answered! I am very pleased. So far, my favorite parts have been the quick responses from the reps as well as the way that they answer my questions so that I understand how everything works with the admission process.
  • It’s been nice to ask my own questions as well as see other potential students’ questions.
  • Been great! I love the layout of the website and there seems to be timely responses, but not an overwhelming amount! I love the admissions representatives, and it’s encouraging to see individuals from CareerEco monitoring the chatrooms!
  • I like being able to see what other people are asking, learning the answers to questions I didn’t know I had.
  • Very good, thanks! Since I am abroad for the year and unable to visit schools, it has been nice to get the opportunity to get a feel for the schools through this online forum.
  • It has been really great! This is such a cool way to get information about different universities. And these schools wouldn’t necessarily send representatives to where I live, so otherwise I wouldn’t have the opportunity to speak to any, ask questions, etc.
  • I like that it is easy to navigate and that you are able to talk to the representatives one on one live.
  • I think it facilitates communication as it allows us to ask questions to admissions employees directly, as oppose to having to wait longer periods of time for an email response.
